Vannakkam Believer: My first encounter with ISKCON was way back when on the streets. I remember enjoying it, by just hanging around, not saying much. Certainly there were aspects of joy there. But then for lots of reasons, the seemed to withdraw from the public streets. :) In some ways I wish they'd do it more.

Namaste,

Yes, they were very instrumental in thrusting Hinduism to the fore, but then lot of them left ISKCON as they expected instant gratification. With their ranks thinned out, they hardly have enough people to manage their mandirs. The youthful exuberance went away with the disappearance of the youth. It is just like the old South....Gone with the wind. :(

Few years ago, I used to see Hare Krishna devotees selling books on Krishna including Bhagavatam for a very cheap price out at New Jersey's Oak Tree Rd having those entire chain of Indian shops. I don't see any such people anymore there. Miss the books.
