View Full Version : Unscheduled Outage

namaste,

I had to take HDF down for about an hour for an unscheduled maintenance last night around 1:45 am. I was nicely browsing the forums when I noticed some errors appear and then the frorum went down. A bit of troubleshooting revealed that the hosting company had upgraded part of the server software without notice.

Anyway the forum was back up and running in an hour after I made the necessary changes.

Thanks my brother I came across the error too - only to see that everything was quickly fixed, first the forum posts started working again, and the index was down, then everything returned really really fast. Great job as always keep it up.

I was logged in at the time it went down, and thought some virus crept into the forums. Glad that after a while of seeing those errors, it came out as 'Maintenance'. :)

You should accept PayPal donations to help pay for some of this and all of your time since the HDF is becoming world famous. Lots of folks do not like to give credit card information over the internet, but PayPal is a secure way. You seem to be on this and managing the site 24x7.. EM too. Thanks for all the dedication!

Vannakkam: I don't know about Satay, but if I give you my personal address in a PM, you can just write me a cheque. Any amount over 10 000 Canadian will be fine. Anything less, well I might consider it. Looking forward to another pilgrimage. I'll even pray for you.

You should accept PayPal donations to help pay for some of this and all of your time since the HDF is becoming world famous. Thanks for the comment but no I will never accept money for HDF.
HDF was meant to be a free service and it will remain a free service as long as I am involved in it.
