Namaste to all

This post is with reference to Gaudiya Math's contention that by practising Bidhimarg for long one can shift to ragmarg gradually which is in direct opposition of what chaitanya mahaprabhu teaches. In chapter 4 of sri sri chaitanya charitamrita it is written :

sakal jagate more kare bidhi bhakti
bidhibhaktye brajavaba paite nahi shakti
aisourya jnanate sab jagat misrita
aisourya sithil preme nahi mor prita
aisourya jnane bidhi marge bhajan karia
vaukunthete jaya chaturvidh mukti paiya

It is clear that one can not get the " braje sri krishner prem seva" by practising bidhi marge of bhakti. Bidhi does not favour sri krishna prem because by practising aisourya-jnan misrita bidhi bhakti one can not become dasa ,sakha , mata-pita or kanta ( braja rasa) of sri krishna and so there exists no prem for sri krishna. If aisourya increases prem for sri krishna decreases and vice versa but sri krishna wants prem only. The significance of bhakti is krishna priti. The way which does not involve krishna priti is anti bhakti. Therefore in no way practising of bidhi marg for long or short help to shift to ragmarg which according to mahaprabhu is appropriate way for krishna bhakti.Bidhimarg is totally for atmandriya priti. Therefore we should practise ragmarg from the very beginning.

precisely... but iskcon only promotes
vidhi-bhakti. It seems there's no place for bhavana-induced bhakti in iskcon. A devotee must chant 16 rounds of mala everyday - even though he may be entertaining thoughts of pigs and horses the entire time...

I have no idea, but as far as those who are from Gaudiya Math, they all say that vidhi-marga will lead to bhakti-marga.

When one is a shuddha-bhakta, that prema manifests itself in performing activities to always perform harinama - things like kirtana, bhajana, archana-vigraha, etc. are manifested as external symptoms of this shuddha-prema of Sri Krishna and Sri Gaurangadeva.

That being said, I feel that people can just put their minds aside and just participate in glorification of God through kirtana and bhajana!

May I ask, what is the meaning of 'bidhi marg' and 'ragmarg'.

Speaking as a Vaishnava but otherwise a layman in Gaudiya sampradaya, it appears to be saying that 'bhakti with desire for fruits of results for the effort putforth' is 'bidhi marg' and 'bhakti without expecting any results' is 'ragmarg'. Is this correct?

If this is correct, isn't it also right in saying that bhakti expecting fruits for one's labour is more of an evolving-form of bhakti and bhakti without expecting anything in return needs a soul to acquire 'vairagya' or 'dispassion' first, which is the quality of a more-mature bhakta than of young souls?

Namaste all.

As still ignorant gaudiya-vaishnava,all I can tell you is that a vaishnava must follow the instruction and indications of a living self-realised guru.

That means that it is guru the one who decides what the devotee must do.

In his work Hari-bhakti-vilasa,the gaudiya-vaishnava saint Sanatana Gosvami has enumerated 64 regulative principles to be followed by gaudiya-vaishnavas.
Please read the fifth among the first ten primary items:
Inquiring from the spiritual master how to advance in Krsna consciousness

Please note that the only guru's concern is the spiritual health of his disciples:)

Pranama,
Orlando.
