I am Little-Bear. I am a westerner who discovered Hinduism. I recently came to Hinduism for inspiration and insight for practicing my Anglo-Saxon path. However, as I continued my research, I started to think that Hinduism may be the faith for me. I've read The Upanishads and I've read a primer and have done other research on the side.

Namaste Little Bear,
Welcome to HDF. I am curious as to what the "Anglo-Saxon path" was that you were on. Is it a neopagan/pagan reconstructionst path?
May your studies of Hinduism lead to a wonderful journey within Sanatana Dharma.
BTW I used to watch a children's television show called 'Little Bear'.

Namasté, Little Bear, and welcome. Learning Anglo-Saxon English (englisc, I suppose :) ) in university was one of the best times I've ever had in a class. I hope you share a little about the path that led you here as, like Ramakrishna, I'm curious!

Yes, I was a Reconstuctionist pagan. While it was fulfilling in a lot of ways, there was a lot that I felt was missing. There's just too much speculation. We may have The Poetic Edda(the Germanic equivalent to the Vedas), rituals and the runic mysteries, but there's still a lot that is not known.
When I started looking into Hinduism, I found a religion that was not only familiar, but was also whole and intact.

Vannakkam: I see you're in Canada. There are a few Canadians here, myself being one of them. Does your name have anything to do with the constellation?
I'm in Edmonton, by the way. So if you're anywhere close, I'd love to host you at a temple some day.

Vannakkam: Ottawa? Or is there one somewhere I don't know about. If so, I'd like to hear of it. Thunder Bay perhaps? I like the name, and am only moderately familiar with First Nations.

I was almost going to ask if you were American Indian(as in Native American). Your name is quite typical. :)

It is quite typical, but it wasn't a name I chose. It's not just a cultural name, it's the name of my spirit. It's usually found by a medicine person.
