Namaste

Gita Jayanti is this coming Sunday, Dec 23rd for me. I am planning a sanskrit pArAyaN first , then at 3 pm will be going through introduction and selected shlokas (non-sanskRt) with a few interested neighbours.

PArAyaN typically starts with the beautiful verses of Gita DhyAna (such as >> Vasudeva sutam devam... ,
>> how Pandava crossed the 'raNanadi' (river of war) only becs KRshNa (Keshav) was their boatsman,
>> and also how Gopal KRshNa milks the Upanishads , Arjun is the calf - first consumer of the milk and all other devotees are the ones that get the milk later from the pot.

Incidentally we are having sweet keshar milk as prasAd - that would be the milk that GopAl KRshNa gives us :)

It is recommended that one reads the saMskRt verses on this day (and the translation).

Some Radha-KRshNa temples hold an all day pArAyaN with predetermined reader volunteers.
