Pranams,
I thought members of this forum might be interested in two new books I recently purchased where are commented on according to Vaishnava system of thought. Both are available on the internet for purchase.
Kathapanisat with Rangaramanuja's Commentary (Sanskrit Text and English Transaltion) (http://www.exoticindia.com/book/details/kathapanisat-with-rangaramanuja-s-commentary-sanskrit-text-and-english-transaltion-NAD002/)
This is the English translation of the commentary of Sri Ranga Ramanuja Muni, a 16th century scholar following Sri Ramanuja, on Katha Upanishad. The translator is Dr. N.S.A. Rangachariar Swamy, a very learned scholar associated with one of the Bangalore Sri Vaishnava maths. I have previously been reading his translations of Sri Ranga Ramunja's abridged commentaries, but this one appears to be the first in a series of translations of the complete commentary. Also, unlike the abridged commentaries, which use a fair amount of Sanskrit and leave many terms untranslated, this one appears to be meant for a more general audience. Devotees wanting to understand the vishiShtAdvaitic view and its basis in the upanishads may find this jewel of a text invaluable.
Five Principal Upanishads- Exhaustive Commentary in English on Ishavasya, Kena, Katha, Taittiriya & Mundaka Upanishads: With Original sanskrit, Transliteration, Translation, Exposition and Annotations (Based on Ramanuja School) (http://www.exoticindia.com/book/details/five-principal-upanishads-exhaustive-commentary-in-english-on-ishavasya-kena-katha-taittiriya-mundaka-upanishads-with-original-sanskrit-transliteration-translation-exposition-and-annotations-based-on-ramanuja-school-IHG016/)
This is a translation and commentary of several principal upanishads, again said to be from Ramanuja's point of view. The author, one Acharya Narasimha, is said to hail from a family of scholars. I know less about him and his work than I do of Dr. NSA Rangachariar Swamy, but it is clearly written on the inside front cover that he considers Ramanuja's approach more "integrative" in contrast to the other schools of thought.
Time permitting, I will write a longer review when I have completed reading them.
regards,
