Dear Devotees,
While updating my Amazon.com book lists, I recently discovered several new publications that will be of interest to Hari Bhaktas everywhere.
ISKCON of Chennai has published Bhanu Swami's translation of Srimad Bhagavata Purana with the commentary of Sri Vishvanatha Chakravarti Thakura. Previously, this was released as a one-volume edition known simply as "Sarartha Darshini" (which was only the commentary on 10th canto). It appears now that the entire commentary of Sri Vishvanatha is now available for all 12 cantos. Here is the link to the first volume: http://www.exoticindia.com/book/details/srimad-bhagavatam-canto-1-2-with-commentary-sarartha-darsini-by-srila-visvanatha-cakravarti-thakura-vol-1-IDC106/
Also of special interest to Gaudiya Vaishnavas will be a new publication on Bhakti-Rasamrita Sindhu of Rupa Gosvami. This would appear to be a complete translation. Previous to this edition, there was the summary study known as Nectar of Devotion published by ISKCON's founder-acharya, and an unabridged form translated by an Indologist Daniel Haberman. This would appear to be a devotional translation that is also unabridged, and would make for a great, in-depth study of the text. Unfortunately, I have no information on the translator, but this edition is published by Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (ISKCON's publishing wing): http://www.exoticindia.com/book/details/bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu-in-two-volumes-with-commentary-of-srila-jiva-gosvami-and-visvanatha-cakravarti-thakur-IDK025/
How many are interested in reading Kamba Ramayana? This Tamil classic which is very dear to Sri Vaishnavas is now available in an unabridged, English translation: http://www.printsasia.com/book/kamba-ramayana-english-translation-of-tamil-ramayana-of-sage-kamban-8171103162-9788171103164
Some time ago, I mentioned that there was a translation of Vallabhacharya's commentary "Sri Subodhini" on the Bhagavatam. I erred in stating that it was only available for 10th canto. Apparently, the publisher started with 10th canto (which I had previously purchased), but is now publishing translations of the earlier cantos. Unless I am mistaken, there is either complete or almost complete. Here is a link to the first canto translation which is actually volume 17 of the series: http://www.exoticindia.com/book/details/sri-subodhini-commentary-on-srimad-bhagavata-purana-by-mahaprabhu-shri-vallabhacharya-canto-one-chapters-1-to-9-volume-17-IDL034/
I for one, am salivating with anticipation at acquiring these volumes for my personal library. If any of you have read these translations, please do not hesitate to post reviews here.
thanks,
