Namaste and greetings

Have tried long and hard to write proper poetry and can not get the proper way of doing it. Cognitively, get all the rules, but when it comes time to write, can not seem to perform. So, will call this a story and hope you might enjoy.

Om Namah Shivaya

The Dream- Kailash Manasarovar

I, big and strong, make journey to Mount Kailash, Home of Shiva
Through Sadhana, nutrition, and training
Complete with Visa
Ready for attaining
At the feet of Lord Shiva

My gear, state of art
Those of others, did they prepare on a lark?
Day 1, a feeble old lady of Kashmir
Stumbles over my gear
I apologize and she bids me good cheer

I, big and strong, am ready for this
Does she belong? Her, I dismiss
Day 15, twenty pounds lighter and egoless, no longer a fighter
Stumble over what is left of my gear
Caught by the old lady, she whispers in my ear

Held by elbow by a gentle vise
I look at the old lady who has only one eye
And am gifted with this advice
Shhh, with thumb to ear and finger to her one and only eye
With this, collapse at the feet of the One with three but yet One eye

Dreams of seeing the Divine Swan swim
in the Holy Lake,
Realized. This is no mistake.
The truth of/is Mahādeva is illuminating, impossible to be dim
At the home of Shiva/Shakti, no dream, awake.
