Namaste,

Once in Dwapara yuga, 2 rishis 'Gopilar' and 'Gopralayar' set out to have darshan of Krishna, not knowing that Krishna avatara already had gotten over and he had reached Vaikuntha. On their way when they neared Rajamannargudi, Sage Narada appeared before them and told them about Krishna. On hearing the news, both the rishis were too saddened that they fainted. On coming back, Sage Narada advised them to pray towards Sri Krishna so that the Lord can then give them darshan. Thus the obedient rishis prayed to Lord Krishna for a very long time, and eventually the pleased lord gave them darshan as 'Paravasudeva'. Not satisfied with 1 darshan, the rishis asked for more darshan of the swami and Sri Krishna gave them darshan in 32 forms, symbolic of the 32 ways or means for reaching god. The following are the 32 different darshans the Lord gave to the rishis: Ref: http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090927012940AA2zdoT

His left foot is on 'kunchitapada' while right foot is set firmly to the floor. Cows and calves surround him.

Great video, Viraja!

If my memory serves me right, Kulasekara Alwar spent His last days in this temple performing various kainkaryams and before leaving for paramapada Vaikuntham.

Great video, Viraja!

If my memory serves me right, Kulasekara Alwar spent His last days in this temple performing various kainkaryams and before leaving for paramapada Vaikuntham.

Blessed are they who can spend even 1 full month living in a divyadesam! Blessed is Sri Kulasekaraazhwar!

How blessed must be Gopilar and Gopralayar to have seen the lord in his 32 different darshans!

This lovely composition in Samskrtam has been presented to us by the saint-poet, Shri Uttukkaadu Venkata Subbaiyyar, popularly known as Venkata Kavi in today's classical music and dance circles. He spent His entire life singing about Shri BalaKrishna (in the Kalinga narthana rupa) at the Shri KalingaNarthana Svami Perumal temple at the small village Uttukkadu. It is extremely happy to note that the temple has been renovated pretty recently (as advertised in "The Hindu") and a new statue of the poet, whose name is synonymous with the village's current name (it was called Dhenushvapuram during the poet-saint's time), has been installed.

Legend goes that after His basic training in classical music when He wanted to pursue further, He did not get any mAnushya guru. Distraught, when He asked His mother, she directed Him to pray to Shri Krishna at the temple which He dutifully did. Being pleased with His endless and one-pointed devotion, Shri Krishna blessed and graced Him by appearing as a small, muddy child and sitting on His lap, throwing the poet into a trance.

Ever since that vision, the poems and songs started to flow, like the endless Kaveri, from Him.

Shri Venkatakavi composed songs ONLY for the Lord which meant that He did not bother having any disciples, did not put tAla-s on His lap (since the divine child had sat on His lap and He believed that it was the Lord's asana) preferred anonymity to the extent that He practiced the songs only at night. It is our fortune that some other residents noting His brilliance and bhakti managed to jot down the songs (w/o His noticing them).

ShriBala,

What a divine music! Singer Aruna Sairam brought the joy of having Sri BalaKrishna in one's lap and admiring his beauty all over! Thank you also for the information regarding Sri Uttukadu Venkata Subaiyyar. This thread couldn't benefit better, with info regarding Sri Venkata Subaiyyar. Rep point on way. :)
