Namaste Shian,

Iddhis (Siddhis in Sanskrit) are said to be attained after long periods of yogic meditation and sadhanas (spiritual practices). There are also certain mantras, people say, lead to certain siddhis (special powers). Many gurus, however, discourage their disciples from seeking lesser siddhis because it is considered an impediment to spiritual advancement.

Some yogis say that the opening of the divyachakshu (spiritual third eye) occurs when one's consciousness rises up to the level of the forehead chakra (ājña chakra) in the state of savikalpa samadhi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savikalpa).

OM Shanti,
A.

Om Shirdi Sai Ram.
Namaste Shian.
There is an age old story which goes on like this.
There is a prince called Balachander. He is afflicted with a terrible desiase called Tuberculosis.A great Sage suggests the reading of Srimad Valmiki SundaraKandam 68 times in 68 days or in Four months. After the completion of reading the affected person also needs to do Parayan (reading) of Yuddha Kandam. The reading should be completed within noon.In the evening a great Scholar should explain the Sundara Kandam.
If all this is done then :
1)All terribble diseases can be cured.
2)One can win a war.
3)AN INDIVIDUAL CAN OBTAIN SIDDHIS.(THIS IS BECAUSE LORD HANUMAN IS CALLED ASHTA SIDDHI NAVA SIDDHI KE DAATHA - ie;All eight siddhis are in his command.)

I also would like to comment on what Sri Ramakrishna Parahamsa has mentioned. His holiness has mentioned that - Leave alone 8 siddhis I do not want even 100 siddhis , i always want to be under your (Almighties)grace.

Thus one should not get tempted by the siddhis one acquires.
The idea should be to be a humble servant of ones GURU and the Almighty.

Namaste shian,

Most all on this HDF will point out that at times siddhi becomes an imparement to one's march to the SELF. My opinion is Patanjali-muni would not have offered this to the sadhu if it did not contain value.
So, you ask , what to do? first read his works , the Yoga Sutra's.
Then you can ask some additional questions.
Yet let me answer in brief - NO siddhi's happen without the proper level of consciousness infused in one's being. Its a safety measure. So, one must have the proper level of Turiya stablized in ones awareness to exercise the sutra's of Patanjali to have them bare fruit.

In Hindu Tantrism, initiation is an absolute must before starting to chant any mantra of "Devi Mata". Most people these days ingnore this warnings which abound in tantras and agamas in no uncertain terms.

As for your query, it may be a good idea to post this question in the "Shakti Sadhana" yahoo group as well.

Nammaste,
One could practice kundalini yoga to possibly obtain the spiritual powers that showed me the way with the eye of knowledge. THIS IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE! Unfortunate to your ears, All i had to do to have these spirtual powers bestowed upon me was sleep. here is an exmaple of a Spiritual lucid vision I call

The Eye of Knowledge

This is the exact eye of knowledge i was levitating in my hands:

I have an extensive list of visions i drew from spiritual enlightenment. They may turn up here or there in my posts like now. I am currently in the extreme practice of Kundalini yoga where i pray to obtain CID access.

Namaste Arvind,

This is a good point. Mahadevas like Hanuman and Ganesha (Siddhi Vinayaka) are instrumental in attaining siddhis, and are worshipped as such. The most important siddhi, in my opinion, however, is the siddhi of self-control.

OM Shanti,
A.
