Namastey,

One of the most enthusiastic Festival is around the corner. Thought of sharing some pre festive preparations.
Dhanteras, also known as Dhantrayodashi or Dhanvantari Trayodashi is the first day of celebration of the five day long Diwali festival. Dhanteras, also known as Dhantrayodashi or Dhanvantari Trayodashi is the first day of celebration of the five day long Diwali festival.
The Dhanteras of 2015 will be celebrated on the 9th of November (Monday).
On the eve of Dhanteras devotees worship Goddess Lakshmi for wealth and prosperity. Lord Ganesha is also worshipped along with Lakshmi. The specialty of this day is that people buy gold and/or silver jewelry and one or two new utensils as it is considered auspicious to buy these items on this day.

Namaskāra!

Thank you for the reminder of Dhanteras! I wish I was close enough to temple to be able to go on every holiday, as I have become closer to the people there after 5+ months of attending temple on Sundays. I went there yesterday for Divali Mela. Wonderful, beautiful day! I wish I could participate in the decade-tradition of mine with silver, but I am not working right now and need to conserve cash.

Praṇāma!
