Namaste vimala ( vi = without + mala = defect or blemish) - the SELF Is without any defect of this kind.

I thought to talk about these Pancha MahaPurushas - some call or consider this piquent yogas ...(piquent = agreeably pungent or sharp in taste or flavor; pleasantly biting). Some times the "Maha" is too great and there is excessive strength.

There are 5 (Pancha) and are extensions of the pancha bootas or 5 elements, tattvas. Let me list them out:

Agni - fire/combustion/conflagration tattva, owned by Mangal, Mars
Bhu - earth/solid/material tattva, owned by Budha, Mercury
Vayu - air/gaseous tattva owned by Sani, Saturn
Jala - water/fluid tattva owned by Sukra,Venus
Akasha - space tattva owned by Guru, Brihaspiti, Jupiter (my favorite)These 5 produce great human beings for society. See of you have these combinations in your own chart. The theme of the yoga is each graha is in a kendra ( 1,4,7 or 10th house) from the ascendant, lagna. The Jyotish pandiji's speak of the the four kendra are the four doors of the horoscope through which favorable and unfavorable conditions come into the natives life. So, these locations are vital to ones life. The graha needs to be an their exalted position or in their own home/sign they own.

The strengths of the kendras are 10th is the strongest, 7th, 4th and 1st is least strong, yet favorable. That is saying, the graha needs to be in balishta (a strong position). If the graha is aspected negatively, its influence for greatness is diminished. Lets look at the 5 that make the yoga, then thier influence.

Yoga's Happen When The Following Conditions Are Met:

Ruchaka Yoga - a Mars based yoga. Mars in in a kendra, there and in either Aries ( owns this sign), Scorpio (co-owns with Ketu) and Capricorn , exalted here.
Bhadra Yoga - A Mercury based yoga. Mercury needs to occupy a kendra and reside in one of the following signs: Gemini (Owns) or Virgo, owns and exalted.
Sasa Yoga - A Saturn based yoga. Sani needs to occupy an kendra and occupy one of the following signs (rasi's)Capricorn, Aquarius, or Libra where he is exalted.
Malavya Yoga - A Venus based yoga. Sukra nees to occupy a kendra, and occupy one of the following rasi's: Taurus, Libra, or Pisces, where she is exalted.
Hamsa Yoga - Guru (jupiter) needs to occupy a kendra, and occupy one of these rasi's: Sagittarius, Pisces, or Cancer, when he is exalted.Side note: Many Yoga's can be applied to ones chart if viewed from the Chandra Lagna, or the sign occupied by the moon. These mahapurusha's do not apply to this rule as they are rasi vs. Nkashatra driven ( we will spend time on Nakshatra's on a later post). One could ask, what of these yoga's from Sri Lagna, or Hora Lagna, or from the Sun? My answer is these need to be considered.

Lets look at what is expected from these yogas:
Ruchaka Yoga - a great person with a fiery dispostion, due to Mars' influence This is where the piquant-ness applies. Lots of enthusiasm a natural leader. Mars as Skanda , a great protector of the people, land, dharma, temples, etc. Good viveka or discriminative abilities.

Bhadra Yoga - One with a earthy nature due to Mercury's influnce. Learned in all respects ( love of wisdom) as mercury influences buddhi and buddhi gravitates to knowledge. This earth nature gives the purusha a good built and the shastra's say a deep voice. This purusha is surrounded by relatives, friends and family. This person is religious by nature and follower of dharma ( Mercury is also the graha for Visnu, the maintainer). This person is confidence and has the spirit of self sufficiency, independence. This person also knows yoga well.

Sasa Yoga - A Saturn based yoga, this person is or airy nature, slender in built (lots of vatta influnce) very quick, as sasa mean rabbit. This person is a wanderer and enjoys this life style. A strong Sani influnce for tapas also suggest he is comfortable in forests, mountains and the like i.e. Sani's influence for tapas and sanyas. Due to this speed, and vata influnce there is some vacillation in various matters. Very charitable disposition and wise by nature. This person is perceptive and knows the weaknesses in others.

Malavya Yoga - A person with watery ( Kapha) Nature. This person's natural lustre is like the glow of the moon light. Very favorable in appearance as Venus governs beauty, fluids, and Ojas. All things needed for radiance, that of Lakshmi or Saraswati. This person is well versed in the arts, both as a lover of art, and one possessing these items. As fluid is the basis for taste , this person enjoys food and other luxuries this earth has to offer.

Hamsa Yoga -This person has the grace of a swan (hence hamsa yoga). Guru's (jupiter) influence gives great spiritual strength and gains respect of many. Since guru is Brihaspiti, this person can acquire high postions, the shastra's call out 'one can become king'. This person is blessed with comforts and plesent speach, as speach groundfed in sound and sound is grounded in aksaha

Its quite notable that Draupadi had five husbands ( the pandu) to fulfill the five mahapurusha requirements/abilities. No one pandu could produce all 5 qualities.

So , why do the jyotish panditji say the four kendra are the four doors of the horoscope through whch good and bad comes into the native's life?

The lagna or 1st house is that of Dharma. Of ones reputation, the core self of the indvidal and where one's heath ( Sun as karaka) is considered.
The 4th house is that of moksha, yes? and ones spiritual considerations. It is also the house of home, core to the persons lving, it is home of mother, and the naturing one gets as a child, that formualtes much of the natives emotions, feeling, etc.
The 7th house brings relationships and who we meet. From here a spouse can be selected.
The 10th house is that of ones social actions and career. How one earns a living and more interactions with the word. And above all (to me) the 1st and 7th houses are considered satya peetha, or the two seats of truth in ones chart..that of life and that of death.

Om Shirdi Sai Ram.
Namaste.

Just to add some points.
1)The concerned planets must be free of blemish.Only then can the
planets be considered strong.
Eg : If Jupiter is affected by the aspect (or conjoined with) of Sani,Mars and Rahu then in the case of Hamsa Yoga, Jupiter is not likely to operate at its best.
2)The overall Chart neeeds to be assessed to find out if the particular planets Dasa will bring in benefits.
Eg : In the case Lord Ram's Horoscope, Hamsa Yoga,Sasa Yoga,Ruchaka Yoga is present.ie;Out of 5 Maha Purusha Yoga's , 3 Maha Yoga's are present.Still we all know that Lord Ram went into exile for 14 years.

Look to Sani for the 14 years in the forest. Now why 14 years? why not 19 years, the duration of Sani Dasa? Many ask this.

Sri Ram's chart is just a masterpiece of excellence and learning. The Guru-mangala yoga is outstanding. And the arudha of the 12th house. NOte that it resides in Aries, with exalted Sun. This is the upapada, and Rama is blessed with Sita, let alone sun exalted in the 10th ( Career) clearly points to a King WITH the mahapurusha conditions of Mars , Saturn and Jupiter in exalted Kendra's. And one cannot forget the blessings of Lakshmi in the 9th house and exalted. Note rahu, in the 6th house, a dusthana, and some would say in a nica postion. If you have the chart in front of you, note that rahu has a special aspect coounter-clockwise on the 5th and 9th houses,. Yet not being in strength, the graha dristi is not as strong, but the rasi dristi touches on the 4 dual signs.
So Arvind, based upon your new set of information , can you advise me on where the Arudha Lagna resides in Sri Ram's chart? And what that tells you? e.g. how the world views Sri Ram?

thank you, and pranams.

Om Shirdi Sai Ram.
Namaste Yajvan.
Lord Ram's Horoscope is as follows :
Lagna (Ascendent) - Cancer,Jupiter - Cancer,Moon - Cancer,Saturn - Libra,Mars - Capricorn,Rahu - Sagittarius,Venus - Pisces,Sun - Aries,
Mercury - Taurus (or Aries , I am not sure),Ketu - Gemini.
According to Parashara,The Arudha Lagna resides in Aries.
In matters relating to communication , Lord Ram will have a very pleasent way of talking.Since the Lord of 2nd House, ie; Venus is exalted in Pisces.A house owned by Jupiter. Also HE will speak only the TRUTH since Venus is powerfully aspected by exalted Jupiter.(Graha Drishti)
In matters related to Family(2nd House),HE will be an epitome of virtue.
