Namaste,
Can anyone help? I need to expand my sanskrit dictionary as my appetite is bigger then my library...

Today I use :
Digital Sanscrit Dictionary by Monier Williams ( full works , published 2002)
Concise Dictionary of Indian Philosophy - John Grimes is author
Dictionary of Astrology - Rajan Publication
I have ordered Nirukta of Yaska - Volume I and II and it was 100% sanscrit which put me at a disadvantage.

Any help on this... As I have great interest in the etmology of the words, this would be a requirement for any additions - English translations is needed also.

Any ideas ?

Pranams,

Namaste Yajvan,

The Sanskrit-English Dictionary of Monier-Williams is perhaps the most exhaustive Sanskrit Dictionary available. It is in English, and it is filled with etymological suggestions, and scriptural references are given for examples of particular usages. What more could one require?

A
Sanskrit-English Dictionary

Armed with this text, and some understanding of the operation of Sanskrit language, the range of meaning and etymology for most Sanskrit words may be found.

What more could one require?

Namaste,
Thank you all for your help and suggestions...

re: "What more could one require?" - something I can hold in my hands.
As I use Monier Monier-Williams , 2002 addition, today - its electronic and on CD; one must always be close to the computer to do the work. Its nice to sit outside, yes?

A refererence you folks may have? http://sanskritdocuments.org/ one of many... if you need more, there are tons and I am happy to share them per your requests.

Yet, I still like books! I can make notes on the pages, and take my 'fiends' with me when traveling.

Thank you and pranams,

Namaste, yajvan,

I suggest you explore alibris.com, where this text (and many others) may be purchased for a very reasonable price.

Namaste Yajvan,

If you require a book with more definitions than Monier-Williams Dictionary, you would not want to carry it around ~ for such a font of information, the full dictionary is relatively cheap (at least in India), but it is huge!

Apte's Dictionary is available in various sizes, and it also comes in paper-back. My paperback "Student" edition cost only 60 Rp. !
