Namaste Shian,
Sanskrit is not my forte but I think what you are referring to means
- for/to Siva
- for/to Mahalakshmi etc.
Others may be able to shed more light.

Namaste Shian,

Sanskrit is not my forte either, but when the name if followed by namah, the ending is ye for God, and yai for Goddess.

So it is Ganapataye Namah, and Mahalakshmyai Namah. But, both sound the almost the same when pronounced.

OM Shanti,
A.

This isn't correct.
I don't want to copy-paste from grammar books here, but for example:

shiva (m.) – shivAya
gaNapati (m.) – gaNapataye
viShNu (m.) – viShNave
hanumAn (m.) – hanumate

brahman (n.) – brahmaNe

shivA (f.) – shivAyai
lakShmI (f.) – lakShmyai
shakti (f.) – shaktaye/shaktyai
vadhU (f.) – vadhvai

etc.
