Namaste,
just thinking again ((()))

This post is about the various yugas¹; Are the yuga periods ubiquitous - that is, do they apply homogeneously ( smooth unfoldment) across all of creation or do different parts of the universe evolve at different rates ( lumpy unfoldment)?

So let me set the stage with some numbers to help with the assessment.

What is the total number of galaxies in the universe?
Carl Sagan assumed 100 billion back some years ago, As of late a Hubble Space Telescope survey + some interpolation suggests ~ 130 billion galaxies (+/-). This offers a bit more accuracy from present technology and, Carl was really close too.

In our Galaxy there's ~ 400 billion stars so, lets use that as a bench mark for the rest of the known universe.
So 400 billion stars X 130 billion galaxies = ~ 52,000 billion billion. A billion billion looks like this: 1,000,000,000,000,000,000. So we calculate 52,000 of these billion billion or 52,000 X 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 or big really big ( zillions) number:

52,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
Now we have this huge number… how many of these stars have planets & how many has life? Just life , nothing special about it, lets take 1% ( this is Carl Sagan's number) of this huge number and we get 520,000,000,000,000,000,000 . This says the other 99% of the stars are just there, with no planets, just being bright!
So from this number, lets take another 1% and say the life that is there resembles a society that has rules, norms and values and are progressive in nature and have a spiritual orientation, we get 5,200,000,000,000,000,000.
Now of these lets just say 1/10th of 1% ( or .001) have or had a Vedic culture, we get 5,200,000,000,000,000.

Why do I think this is possible? If the Veda is eternal, that means any one, anywhere is open to cognizing The truth of Reality, hence, others from another part of this Universe may just have done this.So here is the question and the implication
These 5,200,000,000,000,000 planets with knowledge of Reality are most likely knowledgeable of the 4 yugas. And when the yugas are finally over, or we reach the conclusion of 100 years of BrahmA, then pralaya² is to occur. That is, the re-absorption of this total universe back into the Absolute.

Here's the pickle
Does this suggest that as a universe:
1. the yuga's are in-sync and that the waxing and waning of the yugas are in concert with all other areas of the Universe. Or;
2.There are there separate pockets - different areas of the universe are absorbed at different times? some before us, some after?

As you can see from the possible number of planets in different galaxies, one could imagine all different states of progress for life to be evolving or unfolding… Galaxy 1 is in Sat Yuga, but Galaxy 32056 is in Kali Yuga…

Or even Galaxy 2345 is in the 51 year of BrahmA ( that would be us) and another, Galaxy 45779 is in the 79 year of BrahmA.

Any thoughts, ideas , different POV's you can conjure are welcomed.

1. yuga युग- long mundane period of years (of which there are four); the duration of each is said to be respectively 1,728,000 , 1,296,000 , 864,000 , and 432,000 years of men , the descending numbers representing a similar physical and moral deterioration of men in each age ; the four yugas comprise an aggregate of 4,320,000 years and constitute a great yuga or Maha-yuga ; a yoke , team
2. pralaya प्रलय - pry or away + li or to dissolve ; dissolution , re-absorption , destruction , annihilation ; Some call this unmesa and nimesa, the opening and closing of Siva's eyes.

Pralaya is never of complete universe. It is only of a small part of it.
As for lumpy or smooth, it is like asking whether an explosion is lumpy or smooth. Answer is that it is conversion of very large amount of energy into another form of energy or matter in a very short span of time.
