The eta Aquarid meteor showers occur Monday, May 5th,( Cinco de Mayo for our
freinds cenebrating in Mexico) and Tuesday, May 6th.

Best time to look, no matter where you live, is during the hours immediately before sunrise. If you can, get away from city lights; you will see more meteors from the dark countryside.
Direction: East
70 per hour if you are in the Southern hemisphere;. Sky watchers in Australia, New Zealand, South America and southern Africa are favored.
It is possible to see the shower from the northern hemisphere, but rates are reduced to less than 30 per hour
The shower is left overs from Halley's Comet transet of 1986http://www.space.com/images/leonid_danielson_0111_03.jpg (http://www.space.com/php/multimedia/imagedisplay/img_display.php?pic=leonid_danielson_0111_02,0.jpg&cap=Norwegian astrophotographer Arne Danielsen captured this spectacular Leonid fireball on November 18, 1999.)
