In the Hindu tradition, the jayanti days and other special days of gods is observed based on the tithi: e.g., KrishNa janmAShTami, shrIrAma navami, pradosham (13th day of a fortnight, shivrAtri (14th day), shankata hara chathurthi (4th day in the waning fortnight), Ganesh Chaturthi and Buddha PurNima.

For ordinary humans, only the annual ceremony of the day of anyone who passed away is observed based on the tithi. Birthdays are celebrated based on their nakShatra.

Sri Rama's nakShatra is Punarvasu. A speciality in this year is that on this day of Sri Rama Navami both the tithi and the nakShatra fall on the same day.

As a Buddhist, Buddhists are the real Rama Bhakts! We discovered Rama in Kaliyuga!

Buddha himself gives the true Ramayana in the Dasaratha Jataka, where the bodhisatva (the future Buddha) reveals that he himself was born as Rama. Sita was his sister btw :) and was NEVER kidnapped, however, they were exiled.

Krishna is Lakhan, btw.

So Buddhism unites Rama aur Shyam!
