There is nothing that makes Advaita incompatible with Vaishnavism - take Shuddhadvaita for example. If somebody calls Vishnu as a Maya or illusion, of course he cant be a proper Vaishnavite.:)

I am not a 'proper vaishnavite' because I pray to Bhagwan Shiva (as he is easier to please...I have my own selfish needs).

Funny thing, In one of the stories for sat. vrat, it is told that the pandus ask bhagwan krishn about shani god and he tells them to observe a fast on sat. as this pleases lord shiva too!. You should read this story...quite fascinating indeed. I shall post it one day when I get time...Vaishnavas are told to observe fast on sat. by Bhagwan to please Bhagwan Shiva which in turn pleases shani deva!

It is quite 'proper' for most Vaishnavas to pray to Shiva, though their purpose of prayer, their view of Shiva and the mode of prayer might be quite different.

I would consider anything 90% or above to be a close match. Anything in the 80% range also should mean that you have a great deal of beliefs in common with those faiths. Even if it doesn't say Hinduism at the top, if it is in the 90% range or even the 80% range I would not be concerned. Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism have a lot in common with Hinduism as do many of the Neo-Pagan faiths. I think a Hindu should be concerned, however, if their first match is something like "Church of Christ, Scientist." So many of the choices are so close that it can be difficult to choose the "best" one. I've taken this quiz before and although Hinduism usually came up as #1, I've always found it interesting to see how the ones farther down rotate up and down on the list based on my choices. ~BYS~

Hey BYS!
What's wrong with 'church of christ' coming up first for a hindu? :D

Just trying to stir up the pot. :naughty:

I always come up with Mahayana Buddhist. I still can't tell which question I am answering 'wrong.' But my second choice always is Hinduism. I have taken the test several times before in the last two years, always told that I am a buddhist!

Anyway, christians are all correct and we are all going to burn in hell anyway so what does it matter if I am buddhist or hindu?

I presume you ticked some of the options not so relevant to Hindus? Like Ahimsa. Then that would make you a Buddhist.:)

Anyway, christians are all correct and we are all going to burn in hell anyway so what does it matter if I am buddhist or hindu?

But is it the Catholic or the Protestant (or one of the 20000+ divisions) that are going to escape the hell? I bet we can meet most of the Christians in hell - no worries here.:D
