I know that glycerin can come from either animal or plant sources, but how does one be sure that the glycerin in the soap or shaving foam that one uses doesn't contain animal fat? I buy sandal soap now, and I look for the ones which say "Free from any kind of animal fat" or the like. But what about shaving foam? I recently bought a can of Schick shaving foam, and I saw later that it contained glycerin. I don't know if the glycerin is from animal sources or plant sources. It didn't have a "Halal" label either, as Malaysia is a Muslim country and any animal fat that isn't from halally slaughtered animals is forbidden or haram. I don't know if it's free from animal fat or not? Should I keep using it? I don't know if there are any "vegetarian" shaving foams or soaps out there. And the brush that is used with shaving soap, I know it is usually made from camel hair, but is the camel killed to get the hair or is it just harvested from his tail?

If someone could shed some light on this, I would be most grateful.
