Hindus of Indian descent in Fiji, whose fore-fathers were brought from India to work on sugarcane plantations in the 1800's cling on dearly to their Hindu religion, culture and traditions as passed on to them by their parents for generations. Is it true that Hindus in India no longer call a pundit (brahman) to do Hanumanji's Roth or Sri Satya Narayanji's katha and Ramayan recital at their homes? I am told that Indians from India have moved on while we are still clinging to the past. Can anyone enlighten me?
Here is how Indo-Fijians recite the holy ramayana in their homes.
