There are many internet sites if you search on 'Ganesha statues" or the like. here are two:

http://lotus-sculpture.stores.yahoo.net/ganesh-hindu-god-lord-ganapati-ganesha-remover-obstacles-elephant-statue.html

That one is kinf of expensive. If you can find a store somewhere nearby, it might be better budget wise. There are also Sri Lankan or Indian communities in Berlin, Paris, and London where you could probably get one from a store. Or maybe someone on here could volunteer to buy one and ship it to you if you give a budget, and what you want. Metal or stone is better for holding the vibration.

There are also some others on here who just did what you asked. When they show up here, you might get a better response.

Hi Dani,

Like EM was saying, if you have a budget you want to stick to, then it's probably wise to look around your area. Shops that specialise in Indian and/or Asian decorations and novelties will often have Ganeshas in some form or other. He's not that difficult to come across at all if you're lucky or you know where to look! :)

I think the gangesindia website is a very nice place to look as well. It has a few brass statues that aren't unreasonable and the shipping is free. Alternatively, you can go a few dollars cheaper and get a resin statue which works just as well, but as EM has said, won't probably retain the same vibrations that are stored up over time and pujas as stone or a metal murti would: http://www.gangesindia.com/browse/ganesha%7Cstatues

Another place you might want to try is ebay. Although I would be careful about the buyer's reliability in the murti's description, on whether it is the right material and size and if it is new.

Actually, EM, I was wondering if you know if a secondhand murti is something to steer clear of? Obviously if you intend on making offerings and bathing the image, you would want to make sure it hasn't prior vibrations, right?

Thanks to both of you!

I have'nt started puja because i have just started to learn about how it is done. So it will be clear more about how puja is done in a few days i hope. I did orderd some puja items but i have a problem with Ganesha statuette because i dont know which one to use (what size for example). But i think that the bigger it is the better will it be for my altar and also for Ganesha :)! I would like to make my altar to shine and to be always brightend with candels so that a darkness or night will never fall on to it.

And about my budget. I think i'm ready to spend 300 € for Ganesha Statuette. And as you were saying, it is better that it is not made of wooden material.

Namaste sunyata: Yes, I would stay clear of them. But that's just me. Even stores with funny vibrations, like the one in Madurai that I had in my log. Nice to be the first person to do puja to it.

We had to get rid of one of ours. The tradition is to place it in water, like a river, so we did.
