Namaste,

Om Tara Tuttare Ture Soha.

Do Hindus say this mantra as well as Buddhists?

What other mantras would Hindus use in worshiping Tara?

Love to you,
Heartfully

the general mantra is Om Taraya Namaha
but about the special mantra seems like must be get from Guru with lineage
because in Hindu Tara is wrathfull form, and teaching about wrathfull form of Devi in Shakta is absolutely need instruction from authentic Guru.

for peoples who no have Guru instruction , Shakta will be introduction you to peacefull form of Devi, like Bala Tripurasundari, Laksmi, etc

Devi Gita was said Hrim or Hreem is Devi most favourite mantra bija
but this Hrim i also find in a part of Buddhist Mahapratisara Devi Dharani
The great Dharani wo destroy sins and broken immutable karma (Karma who must received the fruit )

the part is : "Om Hrim Tram Taraya Maa Baghavati..."

if you want to know more about HIndu lineage of Tara, you must go to Shakta school or temple who have authentic lineage

dont do mixed by your self, this is sin if you mixed a sceret teaching without authentic Guru

Bhagavati Tara is worshipped using pancha rashmi and variations thereof. The mantra you mentioned occurs as well (eg Tantrarajatantra), but I am not aware if it is ever used in upasana.

Even though Tara may be of buddhistic origin, with my limited outward knowledge I feel that the upasana is a bit different. In buddhism Tara is more of a begginers practice, while worship of Tara in kali kula (as well sri kula) marks the krama diksha - the start of very serious post-purnabhishek upasana, and her stature is highest like the other maha vidyas.

Does buddhist Tara enjoy the same stature as the other highest yoga tantra deities like Heruka or Vajrayogini?

Namaste,

Thanks to both of you. I have a lot to learn and it was very important for me to know not to go too far with Tara without a guru.

Love to you,

Namste SM 78,

Tara is not only Green Tara
like Devi in Shakta, they are all can call Tara or Tarini
Jagad Tarini Trahi Durge etc
and in Shakta , peoples without lineage is more prayer to peacefull form of Devi

in Buddhist Matrkatantra (tantra in line of Mother) , Tara is also Vajrayogini and Vajravarahi

so,
Tara is also have sadhanas include in Anuttarayogatantra

the general mantra is Om Taraya Namaha

In this connection please allow me 2 questions:

1. What does a -ya/-ye added to the name of a deity mean?
I read it in many mantras "Om Durgaye Namah", "Om Namah Shivaya" but do not understand why it is added to the deity's name.

2. What are the differeces between Namah, Namaha and Namo?
