And this fellow lives in Las Vegas? Does anyone besides me see the irony?

Namaste Eastern,
Good point!
Aside from the topic he is speaking about now...I find this guy a little annoying though I have never met him personally. President of Universal Society of Hinduism! What the hell is that?

Gosh, I wish I had his marketing skills, though. It seems its all self-proclaimed, as I've never heard anyone else laud him. I guess someone has to be the watchdog for the rest of us, but there are more sincere groups who take on textbook controversies and the like.

By the way, what powers NewsBot? Every time I see it, I just know its going to be about Zed. If the point is to get the forum aware of Hindu news, there may be a better way. I like 'Hindu Press International" from Himalayan Academy but then again I'm biased in that direction as you know.

actually, now that you mention it, the HDFBot is not very smart. The feature of forum software is new and doesn't allow much customization. I have it programmed to pick up news on words like hindu, hinduism etc. but can't program it to ignore words.
Most of the time it seems to be collecting irrelevant news.

Yes, I subscribe to the Hinduism Today and get the daily emails too. I don't know about their copyright but for sure I have thought about posting their emails on the forum. I will see if I can contact them and get permission to post their email content on HDF.

Rajan Zed is this guy from a Hindu association in Nevada. He describes himself as a "statesman," but I don't know why, seeing as how he's never served as a politican. I guess politicans use him as the token Hindu whenever they're trying to reach out to the Indian community. In several states he's offered the opening prayer for the start of the legislative session. He gained some public interest when his prayer in the U.S. Senate was disrupted by some Christian fundamentalists.

Other than that, I don't know that he's ever actually done anything useful.
