India decriminalizes Homosexuality! Hindu Leaders keep quiet about it and are pretty much neutral about it. Only VHP makes a rally against it! My question is what is Sanathana Dharmas stance on homosexuality?

From Dancing with Siva by Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami:

"Hinduism neither condones nor condemns birth control, sterilization, masturbation, homosexuality, petting, polygamy or pornography." (Upanishad 6, Mandala 15, Sloka 74).

However, Subramuniyaswami doesn't speak for all of Hinduism and there are many Hindus who are against it. On the other hand, the Kama Sutra talks about eunuchs (castrated males) performing oral sex on men.

Vannakam Indra: The topic has been discussed here quite a lot already. I wish I could point you in the direction of previous discussion, but I can't. Perhaps someone with a better memory than I can point you there.

Sounds like a progressive step to me.

Vannakkam Indra and Amra:

As I mentioned before this topic was already discussed at some length on HDF.

Western Psychologists and many Eastern Gurus have observed the following or something like it.

When you observe something in others that you find fault with and criticise or despise, it isn't actually in them, it's in you. So what you see outside is often just a mirror.

There has been substantial research done that indicates that in youth the most homophobic people are the gays themselves, before they come to grips with the fact.

Here is a link to one such study. http://www.religioustolerance.org/hom_fuel2.htm

The researchers concluded that the most common cause of homophobia was repressed homosexual desire.

I can not say to whom gender would be something a soul must suffer through to learn a lesson...or to the other soul who it may be nothing more than something to overcome.

Since the soul is genderless...those who are completely withdrawn from the vessel they see in the mirror before them...knowing that inside they are nothing but same to the other soul...and find their beloved again...this time in a new shell. One which is unfortunately the wrong gender for them to be compatible.

Since I am not divine, I can not know who is the deviant...who is the wise one that has transcended this lifetime...all attachment of their new gross physicality fallen away.

Either way...that soul...that Jiva will face more karma for the short cut they have taken or they will be blessed for their bravery of overcoming speed bump. It's in God's hands.

I feel lucky that this gross physical form is matched up with my beloved Ron. Heaven knows how difficult it must be to look into the eyes of a stranger...see your most beloved and unable to react on this because of mismatched gender. I have great pity for such souls.

Each human contains all good and bad, normal people who follow sane logic, attempt to instill values in society that will promote good and harmony.

Admin Note

This thread has gone completely off topic. Homosexuals, rapists... Come on members, HDF is a place to discuss spiritual things.

Now, please keep it together.

I am closing this thread as the issue has been discussed several times.

Thanks,
