Hare KRshNa

A minor question - but a qn nevertheless :

Nimbarkacharya is an avatAr of BhagavAn VishNu's Sudarshan Chakra, says this website

This verse from Garga Samhita says he is an amsha of SaNaka KumAr.

visnuswami vamanangsastatha madhvastu brahmanah
ramanujastu sesangsa nimbaditya sanakasya ca
Visnuswami, Madhvacarya, Ramanuja and Nimbaditya will appear respectively as a portion of Vamana, Brahma, Ananta Sesha and Sanaka Kumara.
Garga Samhita, Canto 10, chapter 61, verse 24

How is this reconciled ? The 4 Kumars themselves, like NArad Muni were sons of Lord BrahmA, but perhaps partial incarnations of Shri KRshNa in some form ? For instance, is Sanak Kumar really the Sudarshan Chakra ?

Thanks Darji in any case.

The 4 Kumars are Saktyavesha avatArs (empowered incarnations) of BhagavAn Shri Hari anyways. Lord BrahmA is a GuNa avatAr.
Come to think of it, all of these, Devarshi Narad, etc. are KrshNa avatars at some level, to varying degrees.

So its quite possible that SaNak KumAr is Sudarshan Chakra.

Take this to the extreme end of the spectrum, EVERYTHING IS KRSHNA really.

Śrī Nimbārkācārya is believed to be the incarnation of the Sudarshana Chakra (the Discus weapon of Krishna), Shri Sakhi Ranga Devi, Shri Tosha Sakha, a cow named Ghusara, a stick for herding cows, the luster of the limbs of Radha, and the nose ring of Radha. In the Naimiṣa Kaṇḍa of the Bhavishya Purana the following is recorded:

At the end of Tretā Yuga, the Brāhmaṇas, being afraid of the Asuras, prayed to Lord Hari. They also prayed to Brahmā who himself prayed to Lord Hari again. Then the Lord summoned his own Sudarśana Cakra -a part of Himself- and commanded him to descend on earth to revive and teach the VaiṣṇavaDharmaNārada, and spread it all around. which was waning and which he could learn from

The incarnation of the Sudarśana Cakra occurred, according to the Bhaviṣya Purāṇa in the month of Kārtika on the evening of the full moon in the year 3096 BCE. His mother, Jayanti and father, Aruṇa were Tailanga Brāhmaṇas, who resided on the banks of the river Godavari at a place known as Telinga, the modern Vaidurya Pattanam in Andhra Pradesh. He was named Niyamānanda at birth. The region was famed for its scholarly learning, and by the age of 16, Niyamānanda had mastered the Vedas and all related philosophical scripture. With the permission of his parents, Niyamānanda then embarked on a search of a true Guru. Upon reaching Govardhan in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, he began practising penance under the shade of Neem trees. Pleased with his penance, the Sage NaradaVedanta, the doctrine of Dvaitādvaita - or unity in duality. After this, Niyamānanda begged Nārada to accept him as a disciple. The great sage Nārada gave him initiation according to Vaiṣṇava rites, and bestowed him the śālagrāma deity known as Śrī Sarveśvara (the Lord of All). Continuing, Nārada renamed him Haripriyā (one dear to the Lord). He then instructed Niyamānanda on the Gopāla Mantra of the Gopālatāpini Upanishad. Once completed, the Sage Nārada instructed him to practise further penance with that Mantra and all will be revealed before leaving. blessed him with the knowledge of true
In the ritual recitation and meditation upon that mantra, the Lord revealed Himself as Śrī Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa. Niyamānanda worshipped them, and was blessed with the recollection of his former glory as the Sudarśana Cakra of that very Lord. The Lord instructed him to teach this philosophy to all, and departed.

Wait a minute ..... The 4 Kumars could be BhagvAn Shri VishNu's Shankha (conch), Chakra (disc) , GadA (mace), Padma (Lotus) in His 4 hands - chaturbhuja !

Thank You Lord , for Your mercy in the form of this understanding.

So, Sanak Kumar = Sudarshan Chakra (disc) = Nimbarkacharya.
The other three Kumars (sanat, sanandana, sanAtan) are Shankha, gadA, padma !!

That explains these three things together :

1. Nimbarka = BhagvAn VishNu's Sudarshan Chakra

2. The 4 KumArs are SaktyAvesha avatArs of BhagavAn VishNu

Thanks for this info, Darji. This can be explained as follows :

Nimbarka is Sudarshan Chakra - a very important Shakti and aspect of BhagavAn

In Leela Kshetra of Bhagavan :

In MAdhurya Ras, Nimbarka is Ranga Devi
In the same Leela kshetra , Ranga Devi in turn is lusture of Radha's limbs (Krishna is the tree, Radha the creeper around it, Sakhis and Manjaris are the Radha-creeper's leaves, branches, flower buds...)
and similarly he is Radha's nose ring (sakhis being aspects of Radha's personality)

In Sakhya Ras he is Shri Tosha Sakha
In shanta-vAtsalya ras he is Gushara the cow
In shanta ras he is the stick to herd the cows

** Madhurya includes all aspects of all other rasas. The devotee's sthAyi bhav is fixed, but KRshNa can temporarily make him/her act otherwise.


MORAL OF THE STORY : VrundAvan is ONE SOUL expanded in a variety of forms to enhance the bliss of KRshNa. The entire Golok DhAm combined is KRshNa. (Well so is entire Swetadweeep that includes Vaikuntha ... down to Material world)

This is dvaita-advaita philosophy. This is also shuddha-advaita.

Nimbarka is simultaneously (a) one with (b) different from KRshNa. This is achintya-bheda-abheda. (its achintya i.e. inconceivable, since its not that simple)


In the consciousness of a dAsi at His Lotus Feet
In the consciousness of holding Him as BAl GopAl and DAmodar
In the consciousness of a shark-shaped earring that keeps hitting His cheek
In the consciousness of His Flute
In the consciousness of His calf and baby deer
In the consciousness of His infant
In the consciousness of His five-yr-old
In the consciousness of the soft green grass below His Feet....
