I visited my parents today, and they gave me prasadam from a Satyanarayana Puja that one of our friends did last full moon. This prasadam usually consists of fruit, ghee, milk, and honey offered to God. But what I received today was some sort of sweet. Wish I could be more specific, but some here are aware of my ignorance about all Indian foods (I know, I'm a sorry excuse for an Indian). Satyanarayana Puja is a puja performed to Lord Vishnu.

Vannakkam Shian:

At our temple, the prasadam is always some variation of cooked rice, cooked only by the priests. During rare abhishekhams, the five-fruit panchamirtham is als given as prasadam. But the term can apply to anything offered to the Gods, like fruit, a vibhuthi packet, etc.

I'm sure that as with a lot of other things, it varies tremendously by geogrraphy, sect, type of puja, etc.
