The notion that you get one life to live and if you don't get it right in that one life, then you will suffer eternal damnation in hell, now that sounds pretty horrible.

For some reason a lot of Westerners think that Hindus believe there is no end to samsara, and that we will always be reborn over and over again. They seem to be oblivious to the concept of moksha, and they only pay attention to samsara as they attempt to ridicule and put down Sanatana Dharma.

I remember one time I was talking to a Christian about theology, and he gave a really good explanation about reincarnation and how if you're really bad in this life then you can get reborn as an animal or a plant in your next life, etc. When he was done, I said "But you know the whole point is not to keep on being reincarnated and to acheive union with God, right?" He had this dumbfounded look on his face and said "Really?!"

I find the worst one to be the concept that a mass murderer, rapist, and child molester rolled into one creature makes it to heaven because he believes in Christ, but an honest, law abiding, charitable, loving parent of any faith besides theirs doesn't. :rolleyes::p:laugh: True.... I used to wonder the same till I came across Kashmiri Shaivism from few books. Rebirth is not due to god, but due to our own deeds. Coming out of is to attain the knowledge to break free of ignorance.
