This is very typical of the study of Hinduism from the western scholarly community. Its almost like we don't exist any more, and its like the study of Ancient Egypt.

LOL well I'm sure if EM at 56 understands, I at 33 will as well. Ebonics came into our vernacular in my generation (33-43) at 33 I still remember the last vestiges of Jive (ya dig?) from when I was very little (I've been cursed with early memory recall).

As for what I was referring to, is TTA's disdain and outright contempt for "Western Scholars" a point he made in nearly every post :) When EM stated what he did it reminded me of TTA's post. But what do I know I'm nothing more than a dirty avarna meleccha :naughty:

Let us wait for Darji Ji to confirm whether darling ji is full and correct name of his or not... But could he know about the ji part?:dunno:

atanu means one who is devoid of tanu (body). It is name of Shri Krishna or kAma deva; and in Rig Veda Rudra is called both pratanusya and atanusya. But in my context, atanu may mean a ghost.

The dictionary meaning is below.

Seriously, I think ghosts ar very attached souls between lives, and for whatever reason are still stuck to their last lifetime, until they see through it, or enough karma is dissolved top proceed into another human body.

No significance that is on the negative side but a lot relevant because i found it unique and was not sure of the language. Thank you. It is unique because a meaning of Shiva, if I am not mistaken, is one who sews. Isn't that relevant?

Oh I miss understood your intent, been hectic on another forum with lots of flaming and such, not directed toward me, but reading the drama all day I might have played into what you said a little to much.

As far as I know it's Hindi. When I joined the forum I had no interesting or witty or religiously based names, so resorted to kind of what I do.

As for the reference to Shiva, not heard that, would be an interesting link if true.

I am skinny. Though people call me healthy because of lack of a protruding tummy. Although, just 6 years younger to you, i should be weighing just half of what you weigh -- no bets on that. But atanu is not about the body at all. Regarding bhuta and preta, yes, Bhutanath is my Lord.
