View Full Version : not another quranic "miracle" - scientific contradiction not miracle

*sigh*

i was looking at this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VG1FI15AKug) video and apparently it was claimed by muslims that what was in the video was infact a discovery that the quran had already confirmed 1400 years by God.

it all started when among the earliest comments one was made

These amazing pictures were taken by the professional diver Anatoly Beloshchin in the cave Cenote Angelita, Mexico. Heres his description: We are 30 meters deep, fresh water, then 60 meters deep salty water and under me I see a river, island and fallen leaves Actually, the river, which you can see, is a layer of hydrogen sulphide. It must be an unforgettable feeling once youre there and see it with your own eyes.

And in their eagerness to prove the verses of quran as scientifically true, one muslim might have noticed the similarity to certain verses and started exclaiming it as a "miracle" mentioned by the quran and then muslim comments praising the quran as true revelations from God has been pouring in.

now here are the verses

[19] He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together:
[20] Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress:
[21] Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?
[22] Out of them come Pearls and Coral:

hydrogen sulphide is produced by bacterial breakdown of organic matter in the abscene of oxygen via anaerobic digestion.

im assuming the muslims think this to be the barrier. because hydrogen sulphide is a gas not liquid let alone water.

in any case hydrogen sulphide is extremely toxic, it is impossible for corals nor pearls to survive let alone grow anywhere near hydrogen sulphide in the first place because they will start to die as soon as they come into contact with it.

So neither coral nor pearls can emerge from hydrogen sulphide.

corals absolutely need oxygen for aerobic respiration and the corals alone cannot photosynthesize. corals are also known to be highly sensitive to change in temperature, pH and salinity. Infact coral die when water salinity drops.

now the verse states "out of them..." referring to the two bodies of water(that are partitioned by a barrier) from which come pearls and coral. so its not either one layer but both.

now pearl producing shelled mollusks are mainly found in freshwater bodies whereas corals are almost exclusively found in saltwater oceans. So here in itself there is a contradiction.

in this site they quote verses that state "barriers between two flowing body of waters" from other chapters as well

http://www.answering-christianity.com/oceanology.htm

25:53

And it is He who has released [simultaneously] the two seas, one fresh and sweet and one salty and bitter, and He placed between them a barrier and prohibiting partition.

27:61

Is He [not best] who made the earth a stable ground and placed within it rivers and made for it firmly set mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier? Is there a deity with Allah ? [No], but most of them do not know.

already as well here we have another three scientific contradictions

1)earth is not a "ground", its not stable either since it is constantly revolving as a globe and has several layers of which the mantle being highly viscious

2) the lack of stability of the earth in the first is place why mountains arise

mountains are not "firmly set". mountains arise due to movement of plates. and a study of geology will have you know that mountains are not firm at all(due to erosion/volcanic eruption/earthquake etc)

3) majority of rivers in the world are due to mountains. so why would God/All Knowing mention rivers as being "placed within it" before equally stupidly stating mountains as being "set firmly"?

so anyways if the verses 19-22 from chapter 55, are the same as 25:53 and 27:61 as the site states based upon them stating about a barrier between two flowing bodies of water it still remains as a contradiction

funny instead of being scientifically accurate, it seems to me almost like deliberate contradictions
