namaste,
Yes, it is in Rishikesh, India. I have some pictures of it when I last visited a couple of years ago. When they do arti in the evening the whole place lights up and the statue looks even more beautiful with all the lights at night.

Namaste,

I'm definitely putting Rishikesh on my list of places for whenever I manage to visit India. I can't even imagine how it would look in the evening with lights!

Probably it is submerged in ganga waters this year :cool1: .

This is the beautiful Parmarth Niketan, it is in Rishikesh.

I had a vision about this statue for years and finally had to find the location myself, so I am glad to have the answer.

If you go to Youtube, you can see the videos of Parmarth, Someone already mention their evening gatherings so I will just post the link to their main website-

No, not really. The statue is sitting in the middle of ganga at the ghat of rishikesh. As far as I know it has nothing to do with the site you posted. Let me see if I can dig up some of my pictures from there.

Yes it is in the Ganges, but the location upon the banks which would be very good to see this would be Parmarth.

They have the Ganga Arti there in front of it every evening. I saw where the statue had been washed by the flooding, does anyone know if it survived intact?

Here's a picture taken from Parmarth of the statue.

Here's actually a better one taken at the arti.<3

Thank you so very much, my heart dwells in these places...and even if I spend a life time traversing this mundane location, unable to move this aging body to these places in my heart...I am thankful for the wonderful helpers such as you, who send such pictures my way.<3

It has everything to do with Parmarth, they control the Ghat and hold the Arti every day, the Gurukul children hold the yagna accompanied by beautiful rendition off Mahimna strotra and then the Arti. i fell in love with the place and stayed there several times more then ten days at a time.

sad to report that beautiful murti was washed away by the floods this year but glad to know there is a new one installed.

You, are truly truly blessed in my eyes to be able to visit this beloved place.

I am friends on FB with Parmarth Niketan for a long time and knew there was great flooding. It's as if Ganga helped Shiva into the water that day, knowing that down stream others may need Him. It was a beautiful vision of Him, as is the newly installed one.

Thanks for posting this, good article there are few things i like to add.
Apart from Ghandhi ji's birthplace Porbandar attracts visitor for Sudama temple. Porbandar also formally known as Sudamapuri.

The Article in the blogspot provided states that only male are allowed in inner sanctum is not quite true, i have visited the place many many times infect every time i go to India i make a point to go to Dwarka and Nageshwar, and the women with me and others have always been allowed in the Garbhagriha.

An interesting story to shiva lovers...
I got a day for flowering to lord Shiva after a long wait . Pujariji prohibited to take photo , but manager told that get the prasad and a photo when you leave . My daughter understood that photo is allowed and she took two photos of the Shivalingam shringar [ flowerings ] .
It was to our big surprise that all other photos were there excluding those two photos .

Vannakkam kd: You should have listened to the priest! In general, all things being dharmic, it there are different instructions between two people at the temple, the best bet is to go with the priest side. They're the ones that are the custodians of the God and the energies. The manger might manage a building, and money, but not the important stuff. A question many forget to ask is, "Whose temple is this?"
