Hello-

As I've been looking around the forums, I've come to realize that I don't know nearly as much as I should. Can someone recommend a solid introductory book (or other resource) on Shaivism - one that would serve as a good springboard for further investigation?

Much appreciated,

Jesse

Namaste Muad'Dib,

The Himalayan Academy is an excellent resource. It is a website run by the monks at Kauai's Saiva Siddhanta monastery. There is loads of information there about Saivism and Hinduism in general. They also have a wide selection of free online books that are very informative.

shaivam is a vast tradition with many sampradAyas--traditions, within. I think the following is also a good website to start with:

There are 3 wonderful books that explain in simple but profound question and aswer everything you need to know about saivism. "Dancing with Siva" and the other two get into more depth, "Living with Siva" and "Merging with Siva" they are sort of exspensive tho so i recommend the pocketbook editions that are only $6. you can buy them at "Minimela.com"
