Hello All:

I consider myself a relatively "new" member here although I have been a member for quite a while. My posts are somewhat few and far between.

I was checking through some user profiles and noticed that some of them have been banned (or their status indicates so). I went through their last post to see if they said something contrary to the spirit of the forum or whether there was any indication from a moderator as to the reason for the ban. I couldnt find any.

I think in the interest of "new" members like me learn what is OK and what is not OK, could we have a mod specify the reason for banning a member on the same thread as the member's last post?

Please do not consider this an attack on the mods. They are, imo, doing a great job handling a forum dedicated to a faith that is as diverse and deep as Hinduism. But the culture of a forum can only get enhanced if the members are clear as to why certain posts run the risk of leading to bans.

In all humility.Thanks.

Bear in mind that offensive posts and pointless fights are deleted.

Vannakkam wundermunk: I wouldn't worry. Getting banned is usually done in steps, unless it is an outright Hindu basher right from the beginning. So there are warnings given first.

The rules are laid out under the FAQ section, so its fairly clear there.

Thanks all...I was just curious why Sahasranama was banned. He seemed to be a knowledgeable poster...Its possible he overstepped and I was curious to know where he did.

namaste,

All members that have been banned have broken one or several of the rules listed under the FAQ. Most of the time the posts that are against the rules of the forum are deleted.

Some members get banned for life, some bans are temporary i.e. the account gets reinstated after a period of time.

If you are curious about specific cases, please send me a message.

Thanks,

PARAM
