Hi
I have some doubt about Shri Rudram. When i read it in Book,it started from "Asya shri rudrasya prashnasya, aghor rishi...."
Although when i search it on internet, it started with "Gananamtva ganpati kum bhavamahi kavinkavinaam ...."

When i ask it to my Grandfather,he tell me that-"It depends on the follower's and type of rudram..

Rigvedic rudra
Yajurvediya Rudra(Krishna Rudra Samhita)

Please help me....
Also tell me what is this:

My suggestion is to find a translation in your first language e.g. English and that will help with the verse you quote.

At this stage I have no reason to doubt the experience of your Grandfather on the different version. :)

Ganapati mantra at the beginning is just the hindu convention to invoke Ganapati at the beginning of any en devour , in this case chanting rudra adhyaya. It is not part of rudra adhyaya itself. "Gananam tva ganapatigum havamahe..." mantra is used not just in the beginning of shatarudriya , but at the beginning of any chant, any ritual, any task when done by smarta priests.

I don't see the confusion. I never knew that shatarudriya occurs in rig-veda, that's news to me. But perhaves your grandfather meant convention followed by rig-vedic brahmins vs yajur vedi brahmins.

In any case invoking Ganapati at the beginning of starting the rudra adhyaya cannot be bad, so there is no reason for confusion.
