My teacher would tell us, when one looks at a rose, the flower comes with beautiful petals, a stem and thorns. We see and acknowledge the sharp thorns on its stem. Focus on the blossom of the flower, the fragrance of the flower.
Why concern yourself with the thorn ?

That's a beautiful and excellent sentiment, so true. Yet, I wonder why it is that we see the negative things first and act on them? That's what I did, without thinking.
