Time has both a vertical dimension: a stream of succession where complexity arises from simplicity, and time also has a horizontal dimension: a stream of succession where complexity itself is taken and changed.

The vertical dimension is the plane on which change takes place in the form of chemical and physical alteration, Darwinian evolution, the big bang, and so forth. Horizontal time is where *culture* and *karma* play themselves out. It is contingent on the collective consciousness of all living entities.

So the reason there is a shortage of evidence for former yugas existing, I propose, is because reincarnated souls form a given yuga out of a pre-existing vertical space of evolution that had nothing in common with another vertical space.

It's like a an infinite number of rings within a wheel, say. Those rings are each individual cycles of yugas. And criss-crossing that are an infinite number of vertical or diagonal lines. Those are the time-slices in which complexity arose. The wheel itself is the world, and denizens may inhabit one line as opposed to another, on a given space, in accordance with their karma.

There aren't a few yugas in this mega-cycle. There are *infinitely* many. Each ones disposed to the consciousness of the entities at hand and with regard to their conscious development.

Right now this is *the best* explanation I have come up with and it actually satisfies me after the longest time.

This model is today backed up by experiment; the quantum slit experiment (http://www.hindudharmaforums.com/quantum%20slit%20experiment) demonstrates this effect on the microscopic level; quantum electro dynamics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_electrodynamics) deals with this effect by manipulating time.

Schroedinger cat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schr%C3%B6dinger%27s_cat) is a famous thought experiment which demonstrates the intricacies implied by this state of reality.

A must for any inquiring mind.
