Namaste,

i have some question about Parvati.
Because, many people is devotee to Shakti form of Durga, but very rare for Parvati or Uma.

1. Can i get the picture of Mother Uma ? in form of hold Trishul and riiding a cow.
2. How to perform a simple personal puja to Mother Uma ? and which mantra is used ?
3. What the name of Uma temple in India ?
4. What the most basic form of Uma ? i mean the gesture, mudra, and Dharmayudham (hold what) ?

Thank you all for the teachings :)

Namasté,

Please find a picture of Devi Pārvatī here (http://devotionalonly.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/shailputri-devi-day1.gif), and for mantras, there are these:

oṁ śrī pārvatyai namaḥ

oṁ aiṁ hrīṁ śrīṁ pārvatyai namaḥ

...as well as this, from 11th chapter of Devī Mahātmyam:

sarva maṅgaḷa māṅgaḷye śive sarvārtha sādhike |
śaraṇye trayambake gaurī nārāyaṇi namostute ||

...which you may hear here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwpR7SF-DxM), and of which one possible translation is this:

"To the auspiciousness of all auspiciousness, to the good, to the accomplisher of all objectives.
To the source of refuge, to the mother of the three worlds. To the Goddess who is rays of light, the exposer of consciousness, we bow to you."

There are many beautiful prayers about Pārvatī's glories, a few of which may be found here (http://www.stutimandal.com/gif_devi/parvati_pancakam_eng.htm) and here (http://www.celextel.org/stotras/devi/swayamvaraparvathistotram.html).

Finally, the great scholar Gaṇapati Muni composed one thousand verses praising Umā, called the Umā sahasram. There is no full English translation online (though a Telugu version (http://www.archive.org/details/UmaSahasramuVolIi) is available).
But some of the verses, in English and Sanskrit, are given in this post (http://www.advaita-vedanta.org/archives/advaita-l/2000-July/001365.html). They are very beautiful! One favourite of mine is, "May Uma, the mother of the whole world, bless us who are afflicted with darkness and suffering, with the moonlight of Her smile, moist with the nectar of compassion."

I will try to post more tomorrow; it is very late here. :o

I touched by the Parvati-pancakam :

You are seen — without blinking of the eyes — by Gaṇeśa
You are situated in the mind of everyone
Having left behind the nectar, stupid humans — who are stupid and have no purpose, who have an unsteady mind — wander amidst confusion. Please bestow incessant-auspicion, fully-controlled wealth, and blessings to those, who are living under control of others, who are poor, and who are destitute like a fish without water.
