Namaste,

I see the beads in the images of Lord Shiva around various parts of his body. The obvious being the wrists and neck. There are also beads on his forearms. How many beads does Lord Shiva wear? Is there any significant? Has any laymen mimicked this by having the same amount of beads as Shiva in the areas where Shiva has the beads (wrist, arms, neck etc).

Thank you

Many have. I believe it is said in the puranas that a person should wear beads at the throat, about the head, the forearms, wrists, about the waist and upon the ankles.

I'm probably getting some of it wrong, however, as it's been awhile since I read that part.

It mentions http://www.rudraksham.com/rudhraksha/shivPuran2.htm here how many should be worn.

Namasté,

I have not read the Śiva Purāṇa myself, but a while back I noticed this product (http://www.rudraksha-ratna.com/dispProduct.php?rudraksha-meditation-dress&prodId=1191) at the Rudra Centre website. It is a "meditation dress," a total of 1,111 beads which are worn on various parts of the body, and supposedly was developed using the Puranic text as a reference.

I cannot imagine caring for so many beads (cleaning, oiling, etc. on a regular basis), let alone wearing that much energy at once! Phenomenal.

Namaste,

Thank you both for this information. I am inspired to wear them, does anyone know where I can purchase these other than that one product at the Rudra Centre.

No beads on feet, I remembered. Generally such holy things should not be worn below the naval so as not to associate them with the more base cakras.
