Dear Friend,

When Arjuna asks Sri Krishna the following in Bhagavad Gita, 10.16

vaktum arhasy asesena
divya hy atma-vibhutayah
yabhir vibhutibhir lokan
imams tvam vyapya tisthasi

"vaktum arhasy asesena"....You alone can describe in detail, without leaving anything untold,
the "Aatma divya vibhutya"....The divine multiple occurrences/instances of Your Self
"yaabhih imaan vibhuthih"....by which those divine multiple occurrences/instances
"tvam tishtathi vyaapya lokaan"....those in which you are situated, thus pervading the entire Universe...

For which Sri Vaasudeva goes on telling about the countless divine forms of His, which actually constitute a single spark in His actual divinity....and during that explanation Sri Madhusudhana says 10.30

"vainateyas ca paksinam"

He is the Vainateya amongst all the birds....
Garuda is the divine son of Sage Kashyapa and one of his wife Vinuta. Garuda is also the brother of Aruna who is the charioteer of Surya. Garuda or Vainateya[name which implies that he is the son of Vinuta], is that
maha aatma who is one of the aatma divya vibhuthi of Sri Maha Vishnu....He is that blessed soul who is one of the greatest devotees of Sri Vishnu and has the privilege to carry Sri Maha Vishnu along with Sri Maha Lakshmi on His shoulders....

There are many stories associated with Garuda, described beautifully in Maha bharatha and other Puranas...He is also known for bringing nectar from Indra to release his mother from bonded slavery with her sister, Kadru,
who is also another wife of Sage Kashyapa and mother of the entire snake family....
