Ofcourse this was already known, just a bit of drama and pretention before settling in - first cancelling his visit on security grounds and now the vedio con based on fear. Muslims have had held this country and its democracy at ransom whenever they had desired in the past also, nothwithstanding their statistical minority. While Indian politics is down the drain with ever increasing flattery of communalism and fundamentalism (when it comes from muslims or even christians), it would be interesting to see the pseudo intellectuals reaction to all these. I expect every body to evade the issue as they have done till now. Not that any of this matter.

But if we continue to do this (http://in.news.yahoo.com/india-objects-us-tv-hosts-joke-golden-temple-121947110.html), then we will also loose some of the moral grounding and guts to protest the above.

Same old story of Muslims are taking everything
Islam with terrorism is powerful in the world, Islamic vote bank is power in democracy. Hindus need another Shivaji and Vikram.

Since we are on the story of Rushdie & Jaipur festival, here's humorous and apt note on the overall farse (not the muslim opposition to rushdie).

Here is an interesting article from S.Gurumurthy, the columnist famous for his forthrightness:
India’s dubious Secularists

Another typical dim witted hindu column which apart from being inaccurate and glossy with details of the original issues, completely aim at useless and unecessary issues.

Problem is not that secularists were more vocal in support of Hussain (they were absolutely right to do so from their viewpoint), but problem is they chickened out on Rushdie.

But he seems mainly offended that Hussain somehow got less radical treatement for greater crime (in his mind). So he takes this time out to blabber unecessarily on how docile hindus are (yea, who cares? how is that relevant?).

And he completely misses the biggest problem, that is, how a democratic govt (not secular intellectuals) and its law maintainence departments invented lies and excuses to side with fundamentalists in a most shameless demonstration of inability to peform their duties as policemen and elected lawmakers. The entire incident was splat in the face of democracy and secularism. True Indians should be concerned & vocal about how communal congress is and how Islamic fundamentalists are being encouraged in this country. But instead they remember how much of a bad-ass Hussain was & how Hindus did not go to the extent of death threats. How nice of Hindus! And how hypocritical of secularists to have defended that "pervert" so much.
