Since the "God in Hindu Dharma" section contained the last thread about Athirathram, I'm posting this thread here as well...

Andhra Pradesh will be the site of the next Athirathram ritual, held only a year after the Panjal event. It is wonderful to see what is hopefully a greater interest in publicising and performing the Vedic rites...

Given that only the Adu sub-community have the adhikara(yaagaadhikaraam) to perform this particular somayaga, it would beextraordinary were it to be undertaken with anything like the regularity it wasin the distant past (at least in this yuga). [Infact, tradition, Sthala purana’s and so forth suggeststhat anyone who performs 100 soma yagas secures Indra sthanam (i.e. as per MezhatholAgnihotri and the original ashtagrihathil aadyanmar). I somehow cannot see thathappening in this yuga again].

Mind you given what faces the world it is important that suchyagas are performed with greater regularity than they were in the near past.The Threthagni foundation is therefore to be applauded for its efforts in bringingthis to fruition and (at the legendary Kaimukku mana) after a gap of more than acentury.
