Movie time.

Advaita enthusiasts, especially the beginners can gain insights into the life of tireless worker, Adi shankara. The Sanskrit dialogues (with English subtitles, somewhat imperfectly translated and severely truncated ones at that) in this old documentary makes it less enjoyable however. On a cautionary note, though most of the story resonates with the accepted history,a all shown may not reflect the truth; one needs to have a lot of time and a lot more patience to watch this slow movie. I can agree wundermonk that Advaita does not have anything to do with Christianity, but I cannot help but see many similarities in the mystery traditions of Gnosticism and the mystery traditions that created the Christ myth (such as the mysteries of Mithras, Dionysus, and Osiris).

Judging by the first video in your playlist, it looks more like sentiment than truth. Isn't non-dualism supposed to be concerned with truth? Wondering at the stars is all fun and good, but I think such glossy-eyed concerns miss the real point of 'trekking' and mistake emotional glitter rather than anything permanent.

The man speaking is Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson who is an American astrophysicist and science communicator. He is currently the Frederick P. Rose Director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space, and a Research Associate in the Department of Astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History.
