I want to know your views about Bhavishya Purana. There are many controversies over it.

The Bhavishya contains many predictions which are obvious fakes. It mentions Jesus, Mohamed, various Indians religious personalities, queen Victoria and the British East India company. All the predictions in this text are from 1865 or earlier. Up until this time, this text was maintained in manuscript form, which was easy enough to interpolate. In 1865, the Naga Press published this text and once printed, interpolations were no longer possible.

As its content is mostly spurious, it has not been given much attention. For a long time, it was the only Purana without an english translation (there may still not be one).

As the BP is a major purana, which finds a place in the list of eighteen puranas, it is definitely old. However, it is not known what its original content was - as it has all been overwritten.

I recently saw a translation of it in English, in a book store named Landmark (Gurgaon).
It was rather thin, maybe next time I go there I'll have a better look at it.
