Traveling to India

Not sure if this is the right place for this thread, but here goes:

A friend and I want to travel to India to see the "touristy" things as well as (for me) visit some temples. (particularly Shiva, Ganesh, and Vishnu).

Is there a good travel company out there that some of you have used or heard good reviews from? The last thing I need is to be scammed while planning spiritual journey.

Vannakkam Heather: I would highly recommend the travel forum, indiamike. it is all about what you are looking for and more. If you post questions like this on there, you will get a ton of responses.

Having said that, I did go with a company the first time (I've only been twice, both quite recently) and got burned, sort of. The second time I more or less organised myself, but with the help of a friend here (Canada) ,who had family there. But indiamike will give loads of practical advice, from hotels, to transportation, what to wear, the expectant culture shock, and more. Have a great trip when you go!
