HI

I've noticed that in some temples, especially the Murugan ones, there's a shrine for the four saivite saints Appar, Sundarar, Sambandar and Manickavasagar. Can anyone enlighten me on how we worship or say our prayers to them?... i mean are there any mantras or do we just say our thanks with palms folded?

I understand that they've contributed alot to the Tamil Saivites in terms of thevarams and sacred hymns, which i understand is the reason why they have a shrine in temples... or are there any other reasons?

Thank you...

Vannakkam Equinox: As far s I know, there is no particular worship done. It's more just an honorary thing, like a statue of Gandhi that someone might stop at for but a moment. Like the Gandhi statues all over India, occasionally they might be garlanded. But similar to the worship of a deity. No.
