Hannya Shingyo Sutra
Namaste
I attended a ZEN workshop on ‚Hannya Shingyo‘ (heart) sutra.
http://www.zen-deshimaru.com/en/zen/...yo-heart-sutra
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8ajU3syci4
It was said that it was composed in Sanskrit and translated into Chinese and Japanese. Thus I think it must be Hindu origin, bacause, as far as I know, Buddha spoke Pali, not Sanskrit.
How is this sutra called in Hinduism?
Thanks

Namaste India Lover
Heart sutra in sanskrit is Prajñāpāramitāhṛdaya
Basic translation
Prajñā~ Wisdom, although it has a much wider meaning, directly related to jnana or that which knows
pāramitā~ perfection
hṛdaya~ heart. consciousness, the center of being
Siddharta did not speak Pali, the Theravadin Cannons were recorded in Pali approx 100-300 years after. Siddharta would have spoken local dialect of the time.
Later mahayana texts were formally written and recorded in sanskrit due to its more perfected grammar. The Chinese would often come to India and record and then translate dharma shastra back into classical Chinese characters.
