Re: Hindu Groups Say "No" to Statues - NBC Washington
Vannakkam: So I went to one site, and made a comment, basically saying Hinduism is vast, and there is no way a couple of people can speak for all Hindus.

Why is buddhism more popular again?

Vannakkam Sahasranama: Not sure what you mean. In the west? Worldwide?
Again? Can you elaborate a bit? I have some theories but no point going into it without knowing the true nature of the question.

Selling statues and paintings of deities of all traditions is and has been common. I do not see the objection - unless the artists are not followers of the deity represented. Then might one say their heart is not in it and they are just shaping the form alone. But that can happen even with a Xtian or Hindu or Buddhist artist.
Look at Exotic India online - they sell all sorts of sacred objects.
As a Buddhist though, I will admit that if one wants to worship a particular object, it helps to know it was done by a devotee artist and blessed by a guru.
