Texas racist claims "Vedic" beliefs

A friend posted this article to me a little while ago:

From the piece:
"A Hawkins man is claiming his civil rights and religious freedom were violated earlier this year when a black man sacked his groceries...
...he told the grocery sacker, a black man, 'Wait a minute, don�t touch my groceries. I can�t have someone negroidal touch my food. It�s against my creed.'...
Thomas said his religious beliefs are based on Vedism, which he said encompasses Hinduism."

He is now suing the grocery store for what he alleges was a deliberate insult offered to his "creed," when he entered the store for a second time and the same employee attempted to bag his groceries. I'd love to know what version of the Vedas this guy was reading...

Why do people wrap malice and ignorance in mysticism, or imagine a Divine that is simultaneously worthy of veneration and petty and discriminatory?

Ahhh...another "stormfront" dimwit.

The issue as I see it is the following. Back in the 17th/18th century, a lot of Europeans were looking for a replacement to the Semitic Bible, for whatever reasons. In this search, they were probably influenced by what they were hearing and reading about Indian culture/Vedas, etc thanks to the Max Muellers and the East India Company, et al., and thought this could be a viable alternative. The Vedas would be their non-Semitic Bible. They hung onto this with the idea that it may provide a philosophical/religious grounding to their ideology, but then in their search for identity and "racial purity"/superiority, they could not bring themselves to accept that fact that a far away civilization could be the inheritors of the Vedas/Upanishads, etc.

So, in this hurry to claim the Vedic culture as their own, they had to explain *why* Indian philosophy seemed to be more sophisticated than others. If all of it originated in India and India always had been inhabited by the same set of people, it would not provide them the superior identity they were looking for. Hence they had to invent the whole AIT myth and claim that folks like them - "pure white, Aryan blood, blond haired, blue eyed" - were the original Vedic folks and those in India were hybridized mongrels (stormfront speak) that would result from race mixing.

Frankly I would never want to live in Texas, with all apologies to any members who live there. Though I have been to two fantastic Hindu temples there by Houston, and had a WONDERFUL and touching meeting and conversations with Indian born blessed Hindus at the ISKCON Temple in Houston.

In regards to NAZI (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei), better known as the NSDAP or the National Socialist German Workers Party in Germany, but variations of the name currently active in Finland, Russia, Armenia, and the US, they had direct communications with the Islamic Mullahs in the pre-national party days of the 1920s, and of course Hitler and other top party officials were in one on one communications with the Grand Mufti of the Jerusalem Islam mosque. The Oklahoma City bomber Tim McVeigh met with North Dakota NAZI's prior to the bombing, which had many links and communications with Muslim Extremists. Many of the SS involved in murders in Southern Russia and who wore the uniform of The Deaths Head units SS in the 1940s were Muslim volunteers. I can go on and on with examples of links the Nazi members had with Islamic leaders and in recruitment. The American Nazi Party had headquarters in San Francisco, so only to show that yes they are in California as well. Again, the links between Nazi and Islamic fundamentalists are very numerous, but in truth there are proven links showing Nazis very interested in Hinduism. But some Nazis were also extreme German Catholics, generally however most Nazis hated all religions and in particular put many evangelist type Christians into concentration camps and gas chambers.

So all links between Nazi and this religion or that faith, the bottom line is the Nazi Socialist movement is antagonistic to ALL RELIGIONS.

Julius Evola is probably partly to blame. He was a fascist philosopher who embraced Hinduism and promoted it as a vehicle of fascism. A brilliant man, and there is much worthwhile in his works - it's a pity he chose the path he did.

Savitri Devi is another culprit - she considered Hitler an avatar of Vishnu.

The same tired old propaganda of the so-called "Aryan race" etc. that Wundermonk-ji pointed out lives on through such ideological heirs who further, and hideously, developed it.

Well, this is nothing new. For whatever reason, Hitler had a fondness for the Swastika. It is uncommon though; as evidenced by the fact that even after going through a couple hundred years of history we can only find a handful of people who embraced the Vedas as a vehicle for racism.

For what it's worth, religious freedom in America has its limits. You can't start a business and then not hire blacks because said religion supposedly regards blacks as sub-humans. Same goes for consumers, so I doubt that this guy's lawsuit will get very far.
