Thread: Just introducing myself

    Just introducing myself

    Namaskar everyone!

I have joined HDF just yesterday, and thought it would be best to introduce myself first.

I am a Bengali-Hindu living in Canada. I have been a Hindu all throughout my life, however I want to get closer to God and gain more spiritual wisdom. Which is why I joined this forum. Hopefully my experience here will help to awaken my soul.

As for which section of Hinduism I belong to, to be honest, I do not know how I would be classified. I am a strong believer in the Hindu Trimutri, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. I view them equally, for I believe each of them are Brahman, the Supreme. I have been to Iskcon temples and I am a devotee of Narayana and his 10 avatars, however I strongly admire Lord Shiva just as much. For this reason, I find it difficult to say that I belong to Vaishnava.

So hopefully through this site, I can gain more knowledge and strengthen my bhakti, and perhaps be able to find which section of Hinduism I really belong to.

If I do make any context/grammatical errors in my posts, feel free to correct me. It will be for my own good.

    Namaste!

Welcome to the forums! I hope you find the spiritual awakening you are looking for - or at least information to lead you in the right direction. We are all searching.

Vannakkam Brishti; A long time ago, before you were born, I remember going to a Kalibar temple run by Bengalis somewhere north of Toronto. They had property, and the temple was in a house. Somewhere toward Pickering, I think.

    Welcome to these forums.

Thank you so much for the warm welcomes.

Eastern Mind: Yes even when I first came to Toronto, there weren't many Ma Kali temples, expect for the one Kali Bari in Mississauga. However today there are many places (besides backyards) that celebrate Kali pujas and Durga pujas!

    Namaste,

    Welcome to the forums

You visit vishnu and shiva temple and gaze at murti. In whichever temple your mind calms down fast and easily, that deity suits you.

Or you can chant Om Namah Shivaya one day and Om Namo Narayana, third day Om Namoh Bhagawate Vasudevaya. Which ever mantra calms down mind fast and easy is the one that best suits you.

All mantras are equally powerful and so are all Gods. It just depends upon our prikriti which suits us.

I make more grammatical and typing errors than you

Vannakkam: One of these years I'll come there for a week. There are just so many temples now ... maybe two weeks. Even then you wouldn't get to all of them.

Welcome Bristi. From the name, I could predict that you should be a bengali.

Preparing for the Durga Puja ?
    Love and best wishes:hug:
