Namaste

In the Bhagavad Gita, there is a shloka which is often called the Charama Sloka:

Sarvadharman Parityajya Mam Ekam Saranam Vraja
Aham tva Sarva Papebhyo Mokshayishyami Masuchaha

Famous Saints and Masters such as Ramanuja who sometimes are considered living embodiments of Shastra, often consider this shloka as the master sholka of teaching and Shastra of the Gita, and that Bhagavan used Arjun as a pretext to present Shastra to the universe through His Words.

For Saivas, Who is the subject as in Bhagavan?

These words were to be the 18th Chapter of the 66th Shloka of the Gita.

It appears that Ramanuja and other Realized Masters felt so strong about this shloka as the best of Shastra, that if a soul could not perform Bhakti Yoga, or Karma Yoga or Jyana or Raja or Hathaway or any other Yoga, that one could perform the Sadhana of this Shloka and know Shastra if the Charama was put to practice.

For both Saiva and Vaishnava, and Shakta too -- isn't Shastra also a way of living, and there are many translations of this Shloka, what would be yours and in particular the meaning of the word mashucha?

Can the one who offers dadami to all beings sarva bhutebhyo, can such act of refuge also be considered shastra?

Om Namah Sivaya
