    Namaste

Yes, this is simply the continuation of attacks that started against Buddhists in the Chittagong districts “that ravaged Buddhist villages in two days of attack”. This is the M.O. of what initially starts in the mosques through speeches and propaganda, and lies of course, and then the attacks.

On this very day, October 10th, let us revisit what happened in the same areas in 1946, as documented in Wikipedia:
    -----------------------------------------
Noakhali genocide (Bengali: নোয়াখালী গণহত্যা), also known as the Noakhali Carnage, was a series of massacres, rapes, abductions and forced conversions of Hindus and looting and arson of Hindu properties, perpetrated by the Muslim community in the districts of Noakhali[N 1] and Tipperah[N 2] in the Chittagong Division of Bengal in October–November 1946, a year before India's independence from British rule. It affected the areas under the Ramganj, Begumganj, Raipur, Lakshmipur, Chhagalnaiya and Sandwip police stations in Noakhali district and the areas under Hajiganj, Faridganj, Chandpur, Laksham and Chauddagram police stations in Tipperah district, a total area of more than 2,000 square miles.

The massacre of the Hindu population started on 10 October, on the day of Kojagari Lakshmi Puja, and continued unabated for about a week. It is estimated that over 5,000 Hindus were killed,[1][2] hundreds of Hindu women were raped and thousands of Hindu men and women were forcibly converted to Islam.[3] Around 50,000 to 75,000 survivors were sheltered in temporary relief camps in Comilla, Chandpur, Agartala and other places.[4] Apart from that, around 50,000 Hindus that remained marooned in the affected areas were under the strict surveillance of the Muslim hooligans, where the administration had to say.[4] In some areas, the Hindus had to obtain permits from the Muslim leaders in order to travel outside their villages.

It's rather unfortunate that such petty religious intolerance should take place in a country like Bangladesh. It makes me wonder how and why they(majority Muslims) feel that Hinduism is a threat to them, to the point of damaging temples and statues in order to assert their dislike towards Hindus.

Are they not aware of Bengal's rich Hindu legacy?

I assume most of them have no idea what religious tolerance is, being fed with too much negativity on that particular subject from their leaders and politicians, blinded by faith and loyalty. On top of that, most of them suffer from 'herd mentality', that is, blindly following the leaders and majority without pausing to think for themselves. What you get then is a pathetic situation, where most of them have no idea to the real reasons behind their actions (you get the idea).

To add insult to injury, the wrongdoers haven't even an inch of remorse and are proud of their actions, believing themselves to be mighty heroes and saviours of their religion.

If only they learn to live in peace with other religions, as well as appreciate the rich Hindu history left behind in a country handed over to them. But that's impossible isn't it, given the nature of their religion; that theirs is the best and the only true way, and their god the only real god.

May the minority Hindus there live in peace!

We cannot blame Bangladeshis. Poor folks are just following in the footsteps of their prophets. Abraham himself destroyed idols in his village. Mohammed himself destroyed 360 idols in Mecca. If Mohammed, who is considered to be the greatest man to have walked the face of the earth, broke idols, why should Bangladeshis be open minded and tolerant?

Time has come when Indian government should allow the Hindu people from Pakistan and Bangladesh to come to India.

Well stated. It is funny to see many abrahamics "surprised" by this sort of behavior when their rag calls on them to commit such atrocities.
